In 2018, the African Wildlife - Leopard coin series was introduced for the first time. The series is issued under the auspices of the Bavarian State Mint from Munich, Germany, which takes care of design, production and distribution.

As the name itself suggests, the main motif is the leopard (Panthera pardus), a large cat living in Africa and Asia. They hunt from an ambush and almost never chase their prey. The catch is often hauled up a tree to safety from other animals. Their fur color varies from pale yellowish to dark brown/gold. There are dark spots on the fur arranged in a rosette shape. The main leopard motif on the coin changes every year. Around the main motif, there is an AFRICAN WILFLIFE • LEOPARD series inscription on the edge and an indication of the metal content of the coin. The coins are made of 999.9/1000 silver.

The other side is identical to the coins from the African Wild Animals - Elephant series. In the center is the coat of arms of Somalia.The edge of the coin is serrated.The silver coins have a limited edition of 30,000 copies.
